Let the wealthy and great, Roll in splendour and state, I envy them not i declare it, I eat my own lamb, My chickens and ham, I shear my own fleece and i wear it, I have lawns,I have bowers, I have fruits,I have flowers, The lark is my morning alarmer, So joyful boy's now, Here's god speed the plough, Long life and success to the farmer!!

Mystery rose etc!

Well here's the rose that didnt want to appear in the common room again i think she got shy..

We've got a german wwoofer with us for 2 weeks i am so glad , a ragwort pulling assistant, poor girl she seems very nice and she's staying in" Le petite pois"and thinks it's wonderful pheww..Shes been helping me polish mobiles today which is a big help as i've an order for 30.

And yikes we just had a phone call the "Open garden's" of which we are one has been brought forward to the 29th july! instead of the 30th of august! the place is a jungle, which i suppose will make a change it's usually parched and yellow.
But not only that i know for a fact i'll be drunk on the 28th, it's the village sports day which starts at 1pm and finishes on the 29th sometime ho heck ! But its a tradition which cannot be changed.
And i hope pili pala flutters over to play..
AS for camping out in this weather i think we'll put it off a while !
Nearly forgot the elderflower champagne turned out a treat so cheers.xxoo

  3. Gorgeous rose - no idea what it is thought - sorry you weren't able to put it up in the Common Room.

Wow open garden - we have open fields and a bit of wood and I have started to plant a few bits and pieces after eight years of living here - but open garden . . . . nooooooo

And as for the weather - it is July I have a jumper on and have just had to put the heating on . . .

  6. 'petite pois' ...reminded me of something....when we used to mark our sheep with the gunge I went and bought green gunge.....we had to mark them with a big 'P' ....and then wondered why everybody laughed!! Lamb and green p's....Oh well it was funny at the time.....good luck with the open garden!!

  7. looks a lot like Mme Gregoire Strachelin, (also called Spanish Beauty) is it very fragrant? and does it repeat flower? There arent too many double flowered pink climbers and ramblers that can get this big, but she can. Let me know if it rings a bell, I used to have it growing up the cottage til it tried taking slates off!

  10. Hello Jo,
I am so tired that I cannot remember if I've already left you a message over at the new site!
That is pretty pathetic is it not?
What I want to say (perhaps for th second time tonight) is that I do hope that one of these days/years/whenever, I do get to visit Wales and really meet you.
Ah, yes, I have said this before, jolted by that amazing photo of you in blue!
All work in NYC is tolerable for a while, but that while is nearing its limit for me.
Thanks so much for your comment!
